At the official launch of “Richie Richardson: The Man and the Legacy”, a biography written by Professor Densil Williams, His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, was presented with a copy of the book by the esteemed author. The event, held at Casa Palmadita in Fitches Creek, celebrated the life and remarkable cricket career of Sir Richie Richardson, the legendary former West Indies captain.

In photos from the ceremony, Sir Rodney is seen delivering his address just before formally launching the book, standing alongside Professor Justin Robinson, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of UWI Five Islands Campus. During his speech, the Governor General praised both Sir Richie Richardson for his immense contributions to West Indies cricket and Professor Williams for his academic excellence and literary accomplishment in capturing Sir Richie’s legacy.

The biography, penned by Professor Williams, who currently serves as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of UWI Mona Campus, offers a detailed account of Sir Richie’s influential career, highlighting his calm and dignified leadership both on and off the field.

Also in attendance at the ceremony was the Honourable Daryll Matthew, Minister of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries, along with other distinguished guests. The event marked a celebration of two outstanding Caribbean figures: Sir Richie Richardson, whose cricketing career inspired millions, and Professor Densil Williams, whose scholarship immortalizes that legacy for future generations.
