They are reportedly linked to a local gang known for violent incidents involving youth.

The group, consisting of two 17-year-olds, a 16-year-old, and two others aged 14 and 13, cannot be named due to legal reasons.

Police responded to a call about the assault attempt around 5 pm on Wednesday and found the teens near Dickenson Bay resort, suspecting them of having a firearm.

During a search, officers discovered a modified flare gun, ammunition, and personal items hidden under a tree in a black hoodie.

The teens and the items were taken to St John’s Police Station for investigation.
