Family Launches Appeal to Support Mother Facing Stage 4 Cancer
The family of Leandra Prevost is appealing for public assistance as the 34-year-old mother of two battles stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
Prevost was diagnosed in March 2024, by which time the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes, lungs and bones.
She has undergone 10 rounds of chemotherapy, a mastectomy, hormonal therapy and immunotherapy.
While chemotherapy initially reduced tumors in her lungs, doctors say the follow-up treatments were ineffective. A recent CT scan showed new liver metastases, prompting her medical team to halt that regimen.
Her doctors have now recommended palliative therapy using a combination of drugs, including pertuzumab, trastuzumab and docetaxel.
The treatment plan begins with eight sessions and will continue indefinitely if her body responds.
Prevost is described as a devoted mother to her sons, Hezekiah, 9, and Gianni, 2, as well as a beloved primary school teacher, baker and community member.
Her family says her faith has been central to her strength throughout the illness.
Loved ones are asking for prayers and financial contributions to help cover the cost of ongoing care.
