NHC – As of the latest report from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Depression Sean remains active in the central tropical Atlantic.

In the Eastern Tropical Atlantic, an area of low pressure several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is showing limited organization this afternoon.

Conditions in the region are becoming increasingly favorable for further development.

Over the next couple of days, it is highly likely that this system will intensify into either a tropical depression or a tropical storm, moving westward or west-northwestward across the central and western tropical Atlantic.

Gale warnings and more information are available in High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service.

The likelihood of formation stands at 70 percent within 48 hours and 90 percent within 7 days.
