Officials are enhancing security at Clarehall Secondary School following a scare last week when a minor hid a loaded firearm on the premises, leading to a temporary lockdown.
In a meeting on Monday, Deputy Director of Education Dr. E. Jonah Greene announced the implementation of metal detectors and the addition of trained security officers to cover the school and its perimeter.
School counselors will also provide emotional support to affected students and teachers.
While these measures were planned for all schools, the recent incident accelerated their rollout.
