Transgender social media influencer Washington Bramble is challenging charges she claims violate her constitutional rights, particularly regarding online remarks directed at Chief Health Inspector Sharon Martin.

Representing herself in the High Court before Justice Ann Marie Smith, Bramble is contesting the constitutionality of the charges stemming from Facebook posts in February 2022.

She argues that the charges under Section 4 of the Electronic Crimes Act infringe on her freedom of speech.

Bramble recently requested more time to review the crown’s response with legal assistance and is set to appear in court again on May 10.
