ABWU Stalwart Urges Workers to Stand Firm Amid Economic Struggles
Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) veteran Harry Josiah has called on workers to reflect on their future and remain steadfast in defending their rights, amid rising living costs and government inaction on wage reform.
Speaking at the union’s Labour Day rally, Josiah criticised the government for focusing on “frivolous matters” while ignoring pressing economic issues.
“We can’t live on minimum wage,” he said. “It must be looked at and revised based on the sector the person is working in.”
He highlighted the ABWU’s six-decade legacy of securing workers’ rights, including the introduction of paternity leave for fathers, and urged continued support for the union’s advocacy efforts.
